People come for Craniosacral therapy for a variety of reasons. Everybody has experience trauma in their lives. For all of us, it starts with birth.
By engaging on a quantum level, craniosacral therapy begins to facilitate and encourage the body to release and resolve the trauma. Left alone, or masked with pain killers, the body will tend to hold onto past trauma, usually in the form of some kind of pain, or perhaps in a general kind of feeling of metal stuckness.
Most people find the experience craniosacral treatment to be enjoyable and relaxing. It may involve a short chat and a brief verbal description of the problem, followed by a 45 minute session lying down fully clothed on massage table, and relaxing as much as possible.
The therapist engages with the clients system with a light hand contact, and tunes into the individual’s system noting areas of the body, that they are drawn to.
The communication in craniosacral therapy is mainly non-verbal although it may be appropriate that some verbal communication happens as feelings arise in the body, this is largely determined by the client’s preference.
During and following the treatment most people experience a deep sense of relaxation and well-being. It is usually appropriate for a number of treatments to take place over a period of time.
The number of sessions required will be dependent on the depth and the causation of the trauma as well as how long it has been present in the body.
